they are beautiful omg Joker: I've seen a few people theorize that it was a chronic illness/cancer (Todd stated all the men in his family tended to die young), and one suggested maybe the cave in the basement was a mine that held radiated material that over time poisoned the area/residents
iirc it wasnt just the men, it was people in his family in general
i read a lil more about the movie and the director is apparently good with any interpretation of whats going on
i kinda wouldve preferred it being a little less loose but i like the idea of indy trying to fight literal death from taking his owner
